Celebrate Your Irishness with the Hutt Valley Irish Society

St Patrick's Day

St Patricks Day at the Hutt Valley Irish Society

March 17 each year is a busy time, as we celebrate what is Ireland's National Day in the style in which the Hutt Valley Irish Society excels.

The day itself at the Hutt Valley Irish Society begins about noon, when we open the premises. Lunch is served, and Guinness available.

The afternoon is an informal time, as people spend a few quiet hours in good company - often with family. And those who feel so inclined may start a music session!

The early evening sees the after-work crowd drop in, often to partake of a traditional Irish meal - stew, boxty, soda bread, beef & cabbage soup, etc.

As the evening progresses, the crowd builds, attracted by the good company and the music.  We usually make a special feature of an exhibition of Irish dancing by some of the local students - always a crowd favourite!

If the weather allows, outside provides relief from the noise and heat

After that, anything might happen, and often does!  As the evening wears on, the music becomes less organised, and more spontaneous

What more needs to be said? The drink flows, the music swells, the singing roils, the food is lovely, and the craic is grand.

It's always grand craic!
